#JAWBONE UP SIZER HOW TO#
That being said, I’m rarely far from my phone so not that big of a deal! What are the benefits of an activity tracker?įor those of you who have been considering a fitness tracker, I have a couple more things to share with you on the benefits of using a fitness tracker and well yes how to win prizes from just doing your healthy thing! I would love to have the time on here or see my steps without opening the app. The only thing it was really missing for me was a visual read out. Great clasp made it feel secure, I never worried about it coming off even pulling on and off jackets all over Prague.Looks better than say the UpMove (hey just being honest because if you won’t wear it, then it doesn’t matter).Idle alert (cool except when sitting on a plane then just a reminder that I’m stuck).Tracking of Resting Heart Rate (huge for runners to see if you are over training!).Splash proof so you can leave it on to shower if you want. You can set a vibrating wake up based on your sleep patterns.

and no I don’t wear mine to run, I want steps outside of that! Buzzes when you hit 10,000 steps (or your custom step goal!).The golden band you see in the above photo is so cute and functional it ended up on Oprah’s Favorite Things List…what?! That’s right, it’s gonna be selling like hot cakes now, so you don’t want to be left out.Īfter wearing it for a month here is what I like about the Jawbone UP3: Studies have shown wearing a pedometer, the old school version of our activity trackers, inspired people to exercise more than when they only did goal setting. Additionally, an activity tracker can monitor sleep through a comfy band that can be worn 24/7. Thus I’m going to spend the majority of my time here focusing on the Jawbone UP3 review in case it’s on your wish list for the holidays! What is an activity tracker?įirst up, what is an activity tracker compared to say the GPS watch you wear on the run?Īctivity trackers use accelerometers, as a step-counting mechanism, thus measuring your movement, but not plotting you via satellite like a GPS. Not that I’m a gadget pusher…except that I totally am, I love seeing stats of all kinds!

Plus let’s not kid ourselves, that UP3 is super stylish. It also tracks sleep, but not as accurately….so I’m going to warn you that pretty quickly you’ll wish you had the UP3. Jawbone UP move, in purple, is the lower tech version for those of you who don’t want a lot of bells and whistles, you just want to get started on moving a bit more. I can guarantee that if I hadn’t been wearing that tracker, I would have moved around out of a pure need not to go insane, but I wouldn’t have managed to get in 10,000 steps. No better time than when traveling to Europe to really put a fitness tracker to work!įirst I knew my sleep wouldn’t be great, but it was interesting to see my deep sleep….and yes on the 4 hour layover in Chicago after my 10 hour flight I got in my 10,000 steps for the day! Interestingly in the same week, I received both the Jawbone UP3 and the Jawbone Move, which I loved because it gives me an opportunity to share why you might prefer one over the other! It justifies taking out the trash and vacuuming (hey that’s like 30 more steps!).Competing against others can encourage you to try new things.Competing against only yourself can be a great way to get started.Runners don’t move enough outside our workouts, this is a great way to help increase that.My thoughts on fitness trackers have changed as quickly as the size of our cell phones, but finally after testing out a number of them, pushing friends/family to use them, I settled on the following: We need to move more, it’s part of recovery and health! As runners we have an unfortunate habit of thinking that our workout means we can sit the rest of the day…not true!!
